Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State has said the fate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Ondo State governorship primary will be determined by the judiciary.
The governor, however, affirmed the party’s confidence in the ability of the judiciary to reverse the alleged injustice done to the party’s candidate, Mr Eyitayo Jegede, in its case at the Appeal Court.
Ikpeazu spoke in Ado Ekiti on Monday during a visit to his Ekiti State counterpart, Ayo Fayose, to felicitate with him on his 56th birthday.
He praised Fayose for giving the state infrastructural face lift in spite of the economic recession raging across the country, saying “It takes a man with passion and love for the people to be doing this at this time and under this harsh economic situation”.
Speaking against the substitution of Jegede’s name with that of Mr Jimoh Ibrahim, Ikpeazu added that the whole country understands clearly the problem confronting PDP in Ondo as having political undertone, exuding confidence that all the crisis will be resolved by the judiciary.
“The politics in Ondo State is an issue that is clear to all Nigerians. But no matter the underlining politics involved, I have confidence in the judiciary that it will rise to the occasion and save the issue from degenerating into crisis”, he said.
