The continued detention of Mr Godwin Obla (SAN) by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has been described by the Coalition of Civil Society Groups for Transparency and Good Governance (CCSGTGG) as vindictive.
The group’s Secretary, Comrade Muhammed Goni Alhassan, said this in a press release on Monday. He said the non-release of Obla, who was a lawyer to Rivers State governor, Nyesome Wike, at the election petitions tribunal was no longer acceptable.
He said that while the group was in support of the current fight against corruption, it was in the overall interest of Nigerians and the nation that the fight be carried out with strict adherence to the rule of law.
