The Edo State Chair­man of the Economic and Strategy Team, EST, Mr Godwin Obaseki has emerged candidate of the All Progressives Con­gress, APC governorship primaries defeating the dep­uty governor of the state, Dr Pius Odubu and others.
Samuel Ogbemudia Sta­dium in Benin City venue of the primaries on Sunday morning, however went agog when Mr Godwin Obaseki was declared win­ner.
The process started at about 5:10pm on Saturday with delegates queuing ac­cording to their Local Gov­ernment Areas to cast their votes for their preferred as­pirants. Sorting of the ballot was followed immediately after voting ended at about 1:00am on Sunday while party supporters waited anxiously for the result.
After sorting, count­ing of the ballot began at about 2:00am with Blessing Agbomere having 5 votes, Gen Charles Airhiavbere, 11 votes, Prof Amadasun Ebegua, 8 votes, Emmanuel Arigbe-osula, 10 votes, Aus­tine Emuan, 7 votes, Peter Esele, 8 votes, Prof Osarhie­men Osunbor, 9 votes, Tins Agbarha, 3 votes, Chris Ogiemwonyi, 137, Barr Kenneth Imasuagbon, 247 votes, Dr Pius Odubu, 471 while Mr Godwin Obaseki, got 1,618 votes to emerge winner at 3:45am.
