The All Progressives Congress, APC Woman Leader of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Hon Hailmay Aipoh has said the party winning the September 10 Edo state governorship election is not negotiable.

Hon Hailmary who represented the wife of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Hajiya Aisha Muhammadu at the presentation of some relief materials to the camp of the Internally Displaced Persons in the state yesterday called on women in the state to in their en masse educate their families on the benefits of voting Godwin Obaseki as governor of the state.

She said, “As a national officers, i want to say that Edo election, winning is not negotiable. It is a task that must be done. So whatever anybody thinks, i want you all in Edo to know that this is the only state in the South-South that has a sitting governor and we must retain that seat.

“I want us to win this election, go back and talk to your people, your children, your husband and your relatives wherever they are that APC winning Edo state is a must because that is what will bring us into the system of things in the country”. She added.

Earlier, the APC candidate, Mr Godwin Obaseki in the company of his wife, Mrs Betsy Obaseki thanked the Nigeria’s first lady for the uncommon initiative and expressed delight in their visit to the IDPs which he said would give the children a sense of belonging.

He said, “I am happy you are raising awareness of the plight of the over 2500 children in the camp and IDP camps across the country. They are also Nigerians and i think we owe them our responsibility to show them care, love and hopefully get them integrated into the society”.

Obaseki noted that there is a shift in the political paradigm and professionals who have prospered in their career field are coming to change the way politics is played in the state. He promised to release funds to women to enhance their businesses in the state and also focus more on the girl child education which has been relegated to the background.

According to him, “What we have succeeded in doing is to set a new paradigm where all of us who have done well in our chosen profession both at home and abroad should now begin to take interest in politics because if we don’t put the resources into the political arrangement we have, we will continue to sub-optimize the country”.
