Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has promised to give full support to the resuscitation of the moribund Taraku Mills by Afrigate West Africa Limited.
He said he inspected Taraku Mills as soon as he assumed office and described it as a gold mine and expressed his administrations’s willingness to make it function again.
Governor Ortom said the impact of the reactivation would be massive, stressing that soya bean and maize which would be the raw materials for the industry were being cultivated in commercial quantities across Benue state.
According to him, the go-back-to-land policy of his administration was beginning to yield positive results with everybody including executive council members involved in agriculture.
The governor said the state government was looking for investors to take over the company but capability and capacity to manage it were set as criteria and expressed the hope that Afrigate would deliver.
He said his administration would provide enabling environment for the investors to operate, adding that Benue people would be happy to see Taraku Mills come on stream again.
Earlier, Mr Owoicho Adole, the team leader, had explained to the governor that the new management of Taraku Mills would comprise Ghanaians, Romanians and Nigerians.
Adole also said the industrialist, financier and parliamentarian, Mr Mario, came with him to Benue People’s House to assure the governor that funding would not be a problem.
