Philanthropist and football enthusiast, Chief Kessington Adebutu on Sunday, said his annual Under-18 Football Competition, will continue, even after his death.
Adebutu, who has been sponsoring the competition for the fourth year running, noted that he is fulfilled, knowing that his zeal to develop the game has paid off.
According to him, the Kessington Adebukonla Adebutu Foundation (KAAF), will be responsible for sponsorship of the competition, when he is no longer around.
“Going by the number of players who have been discovered nationally through this platform over the years, it is gratifying to note that the zeal to develop the game from the grassroot level is definitely paying off.
“Many of them have progressed to the national team and represented the country internationally, ” he said.
He called on the leadership and administrators of various sports in the state and nationally, to inculcate right values of discipline, hard work and friendliness into the youths.
“These values are what makes them stars in sports and almost needed for a lifetime success”, he said.
Adebutu however, promised to begin the sponsorship of the female category of the competition in 2017.
