Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has endorsed political solution to the ranging crisis in the Niger Delta region.
He said that more political engagement of the stakeholders could end the crisis in the oil-rich region than military might.
The governor spoke on Tuesday in Sokoto when he hosted participants of Course 25 of the National Defence College who were on a study tour of the state.
In a statement issued by his Media Aide, Imam Imam, the governor declared that the ability of the country to rise to challenges facing the nation will ultimately define the true worth of its leaders.
According to him, “Every country of the world is facing some form of challenges; what is important is the ability of the leadership to rally round, discuss and engage all stakeholders to come to a peaceful resolution of such issues.”
He commended the Nigerian military and other security services for their efforts in ensuring internal security. He said the successes recorded in the fight against Boko Haram should inspire them to look for solutions to other security challenges like kidnapping and armed robbery bedevilling other parts of the country.
The governor also praised said President Muhammadu Buhari on his good intentions for the country and urged Nigerians to support him.
On the theme of the tour, which is ‘Enhancing food security for national development: The role of state governments’, Tambuwal said Sokoto has embraced modern farming techniques and has joined other entities in declaring food a major security issue.
