Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) caucus yesterday endorsed the peace move by Ahmed Makarfi-led national caretaker committee with Sen. Ali Modu Sheriff's faction.
The peace committee will be inaugurated to bring the warring faction together.
Recall that last month, Makarfi met with Sheriff to fashion way out of the crisis bedevelling the party.
The caucus is made up of PDP governors, National Assembly caucus, Board of Trustee and other stakeholders.
Addressing newsmen shortly after the caucus meeting attended by the governors and other stakeholders, the spokesman of PDP, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, said that "the peace move has been finally endorsed and supported by members of caucus without any dissent voice."
He explained that the purpose of the meeting was to brief the caucus and get their endorsement.
Adeyeye said: "Members of the caretaker committee are not there on their own, they were appointed by the party and they have to carry the party along in all they are doing."
The spokesman explained that there is no faction in the party, but aggrieved members, adding, "we don't have factions in PDP. There are some of our members who are aggrieved. We are making moves to ensure peace in the party."
Speaking on the members that defected from the party, Adeyeye said,
"We are taking steps to sure that we take back the seats from the lawmakers that defected from PDP to APC. There is no factionalisation in PDP, INEC recognizes the caretaker committee. All the organs of the party are in one place.
"We are making serious moves to ensure that members who took our seats to APC are recovered.
"This meeting was to get the endorsement of the caucus. It is not about giving conditions, but to move forward.
"It was agreed that members of caucus and NEC are the same and it is assumed that having briefed the members of caucus there is no need for NEC."
