The House of Representatives resolved to set up an Adhoc commitee to investigate the State Security Service over arrest of seven Judges in some states across the country.

This followed a point of order moved by Representative Kingsley Chinda who expressed concern that the invasion of the SSS did not follow due process.

Representative Chinda argued that section fifty three sub section one of the nineteen ninety-nine constitution as amended states clearly the principal of separation powers.

The lawmaker recalled similar action by the SSS in time past bringing to question the statutory function of the department of State services in the discharge of their duties.

He said if not checked, the nation's democracy will be tempered with.

According to the lawmaker,  the essence of the invitation is to state clearly where the SSS derives their powers to prosecute on matters bordering on corruption.

Meanwhile, Representative Mojeed Alabi had wanted to oppose the motion but was ruled out of order by the speaker who stated clearly that the matter was important and should be treated urgently.

The motion was put to a voice vote with the "Ayes" having the highest voice vote.
The ad-hoc committee To investigate the matter and report back to the House within six weeks.
