Nigerian striker Charity Adule is hopeful BIIK-Kazygurt will advance to the Last 16 of the UEFA Women’s Champions League, after their reverse fixture against Verona on Wednesday.
The Kazakhstani side caused an upset when they hammered the Italians 3-1 at home with Adule leading the onslaught with a brilliant individual goal in the third minute. The 22-year-old made use of her speed to good effect, gliding past Verona’s Rodella just after the halfway line before coolly slotting past goalkeeper Thalmann at the far post.
A brace from the diminutive Gabelia sealed a massive win for the Kazakhs but captain Gabbiadini’s 53rd minute goal gave the Italians some hope ahead of the second leg.
Adule, who has notched three goals in the tournament, admits they have a tough tie on their hands but she insists BIIK are going to Verona to fight after intensive training in Slovenia ahead of the tie.
“It’s going to be a difficult game; we will be playing against Verona, their fans but we are going for a fight. They are a good side but we have a great squad and we hope to advance to the Round of 16 on Wednesday,” the U-20 Women’s World Cup silver medallist said.
