As Nigeria gets ready to start the 2018 World Cup qualifiers, chairman of the Technical and Development Committee of Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), Chris Green insists it is a perfect opportunity for the Super Eagles to re-write the wrongs of the recent years.
Nigeria are drawn with Zambia, Algeria and Cameroon, for the group B ticket of the Russia 2018 World Cup, and the new tactician Gernot Rohr, said recently that the players confidence was low after failing to qualify for the 2017 AFCON in Gabon; insisting there is the need for a conscious effort to rebuild the players confidence and team spirit.
Green expressed optimism that Nigeria will qualify for the World Cup, adding that the players are desirous of regaining the country’s top place in African football.
“We are very confident of the Super Eagles qualifying for the 2018 World Cup. We are working very hard. The players too are very determined to achieve it because they are not happy missing the Nations Cup again. So it is a challenge to everybody in the team to ensure we pick the World Cup ticket.
“The teams in the group are very good. But I tell you, our players see this as a chance to correct the wrongs of 2015. I believe, we will make it,” he said.
