The sponsors of the annual NNPC/Chevron Tennis Clinic have asked the participants to use what they learnt at this year’s event to build a career and also raise the standard of the game in Nigeria.
Haastrup said the high turn-out of players proved that the main objective of exposing kids to the various aspects of the game was achieved.
He said, “In the course of the three weeks that the clinic lasted, the selected kids have been tutored in various aspects of the game by carefully chosen experts, some of whom have played the game at professional level.
“I can therefore say that the participants have been exposed to the necessary basics of tennis, upon which they can build on. I like to congratulate the participants, who have been privileged to be part of this year’s edition. I believe that they will continue to improve on the foundation that has been laid at this clinic.”
He thanked a former Chairman of the Nigeria Cricket Association, Chris Enahoro, who coordinated the event for making the clinic quite successful all these past years.
About 100 players participated in the programme.
