PDP Convention: Alkali joins race for Deputy Chairman

Former Political Ad­viser to Goodluck Jonathan, Prof Ru­fai Ahmed Alkali yester­day joined the race for the position of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Deputy National Chair­man (North).

He explained that he joined the race to add value to the leadership of the party.

Prof Alkali, who was among the PDP leaders from the North that met in Abuja last Saturday where they threw their weight before the forth­coming Port Harcourt convention, confirmed in a telephone interview that he has already collected the nomination form from the temporary na­tional secretariat of PDP.

Prof Alkali declared that there is urgent need for selfless members to join hands to reposition the party to put it in good stead to bounce back in 2019, especially now that it is apparent that Nigeri­ans are already tired with the ruling APC.

Prof Alkali was the for­mer National Publicity Secretary of the PDP be­tween 2008 and 2012.
