The Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC) is planning a special pilgrimage for farmers to advance agricultural development across the country, the Executive Secretary, Rev. Tor Uja, has said.
Uja made this known on Tuesday in Abuja at the launch of a book entitled `Constitutional and Migration Law in Nigeria’.
He said that acquiring more knowledge on agriculture in Israel would give a facelift to the agriculture sector in the country.
``We are setting up a pilgrimage for farmers so that we can expose them to great advancements in agriculture that is going on in Israel and give a facelift to agriculture in Nigeria.
``It will still be a spiritual project which will be a combination of development as well.
``There will be a leadership pilgrimage for our leaders to come with their executive members for prayers and also expose them to some of the things that make other nations strong industrially.
``We believe that exposing them to many things will help them to develop and invest in Nigeria much more.''
Uja urged the Federal Government to sponsor institutions and create a role to empower citizens.
``I believe the government owes a stake to its citizens in whatever is important to them; what the government is spending on pilgrimage is being spent for Nigeria and Nigerians.
``They should sponsor those who want to go on pilgrimage because they will not only go there as tourists, but with a mind to come back and influence others positively,``he said.(NAN)
