Governor of Benue State Samuel Ortom has condemned in strong term the gruesome murder of the Vicar General of Catholic Diocese of Otukpo Rev Fr John Adeyi.
The Governor while commiserating with the Catholic Bishop of Otukpo at the cathedral yesterday on hearing of the demise of the cleric in the hands of his abductors described the act as wicked .Represented by his deputy Engr Benson Abounu the governor wondered why a person as good as he was would face such an ordeal in the hands of men of the underworld saying that he would ensure that the perpetrators are haunted down and prosecuted
He equally requested that an autopsy be conducted on the late cleric.
The governor who further reminisced on Fr Adeyi's numerous contribution to the Catholic Church and the Christan community in general acknowledged that he would be greatly missed and called on his family as well as the Christan faithful to accept his condolence.
While receiving the governor at St Francis Cathedral Otukpo representative of the Diocese Rev Fr Kenneth Odeh maintained that the deceased was found in a decomposing state 2kilometers from the road at Obu hill in Otukpa, Ogbadibo local government council. But for his cassock, wrist watch and ring, he was unrecognizable.
At the time of the report the body of the late vicar had been deposited at St Vincent mortuary Aliade.
